EMERGENCY DENTISTRY IN KATY, TEXAS

Dental emergencies include severe toothaches, facial swelling, dental abscesses, broken or knocked-out teeth, lost restorations, and injuries affecting the gums or other oral tissues. Prompt evaluation can relieve symptoms, prevent additional damage, and determine whether you need restorative treatment, root canal therapy, an extraction, or another form of care.

Dr. Andrew LeQuang and Dr. Melissa Young provide emergency dental care for adults and children with honest guidance and responsive support. If you need a same-day dentist, call Cinco Ranch Dental so our team can assess the situation and arrange care when scheduling permits. We also accept after-hours emergencies and provide access to an emergency line for urgent concerns outside regular office hours.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR EMERGENCY VISIT

  • Call the office: Contact Cinco Ranch Dental as soon as possible so our team can provide instructions and prepare for your arrival.
  • Protect a knocked-out permanent tooth: Handle it by the crown, not the root. If possible, gently return it to the socket or keep it moist in milk while traveling to the office.
  • Control oral bleeding: Apply steady pressure with clean gauze. Seek hospital emergency care if significant bleeding does not stop.
  • Reduce facial swelling: Place a cold compress against the outside of your cheek for short intervals without applying ice directly to the skin.
  • Save broken pieces: Bring any fragments from a tooth, crown, or other restoration in a clean container.
  • Avoid placing aspirin on tissues: Aspirin held directly against a tooth or gum can irritate or damage the soft tissue.

THE EMERGENCY DENTAL CARE PROCESS

  • Phone assessment: Call our office and describe your symptoms, when the problem began, and whether an injury or accident occurred.
  • Prompt examination: We evaluate the affected tooth, surrounding tissues, bite, and visible signs of damage or infection.
  • Digital diagnostics: Digital X-rays or other imaging may be used to identify fractures, decay, infection, or damage beneath the surface.
  • Symptom relief: We prioritize reducing discomfort and stabilizing the area before proceeding with additional care when appropriate.
  • Emergency treatment: Depending on your needs, treatment may include a filling, crown, root canal, extraction, repair, or another suitable procedure.
  • Follow-up plan: We explain what was found, review any additional care needed, and provide instructions for protecting the area during recovery.

FAQ

  • What dental issues require immediate attention at an emergency dental clinic?

Call promptly for significant tooth pain, facial or gum swelling, a dental abscess, a badly cracked tooth, a knocked-out or displaced permanent tooth, uncontrolled oral bleeding, or a lost restoration causing substantial discomfort. If you are uncertain whether the problem is urgent, contact our office so the team can help determine the appropriate next step.

  • When should I go to a hospital for a dental emergency?

Call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe facial trauma, a suspected jaw fracture, or bleeding that will not stop. These conditions may require immediate medical treatment beyond the care an emergency dental clinic can safely provide. For most tooth-related emergencies, call Cinco Ranch Dental first for guidance.

  • Can I see a same-day dentist if I don’t have private dental insurance?

Yes. Dental insurance is not required to request same-day emergency care. Treatment costs depend on the examination, imaging, and services needed, and we will explain the recommended care and associated fees. Patients without insurance may also ask about the Cinco Ranch Dental In-House Dental Plan, which provides immediate benefits and savings on eligible services.

  • How does your office handle emergency pediatric dental care for young children?

We begin by asking what happened, when the symptoms started, and whether the child experienced an injury. Our team then evaluates the child with a calm, reassuring approach and uses diagnostic imaging only when appropriate. Treatment depends on whether the affected tooth is primary or permanent, the extent of damage, and the child’s comfort and safety.
